Nasty statins strike again

I can’t believe this rot has made the front page of the BBC. “Intensive therapy with statin drugs may not just stall deterioration of the arteries but actually reverse it, research suggests.”

The mechanism by which statins “reverse heart disease” [sic] is due to the antioxidant capacity of statins. So go take some vitamins A C E, and selenium and get the same effect without getting muscle weakness and dementia for side effects!

Stripping the gunk out of the arteries is not going to help long term, because the gunk is there to stop the arteries from falling apart due to a lack of collagen, which is made by vitamin C. If you clear out the gunk without replacing the collagen, the result is a stroke instead of a heart attack.

Yet again an example of a drug company making a press release before the study is actually published. What bad practice.
